Pay Range:$23.02 to $24.04 per hour ($47,890 to $50,000)

Summary

The Parent Educator is responsible for managing a caseload of ten to twelve children(caseload may include pregnant parents) enrolled in Childcare Network ofEvanston’s (CNE) Head Start/Early Head Start (HS/EHS) home visiting program. This position provides in-home instruction and support as well as a groupsocialization experience to parents and children to support the child’s growth, educate parents about the importance of healthy development, and improve school readiness. The Parent Educator serves as an advocate for families and buildsthe necessary relationships in the community to provide appropriate linkages and resources for further support.

Essential Job Duties

·      Conduct weekly home visits (90minutes),virtually on occasion, with each family focused on child’s educational growthand development.

·      Partner and collaborate with families to identify strengths and needs, and to develop family goals.

·      Collaborate with colleagues to plan twice monthly, in-person socialization experiences for families.

·      Promote parental involvement on Policy Council and Parent Committees and refer families to needed services.

·      Perform ASQ screenings within 45 days of enrollment.

·      Track required data in ChildPlus data management system.

·      Ensure family specific data is completed for the Program Information Report (PIR).

·      Complete monthly and weekly reports as required.

·      Collaborate with Intake &Eligibility team to ensure enrollment in other CNE programs and transition families into otherappropriate programs.

·      Attend and participate in community outreach and recruit families into CNE programs and serve as an ambassador in thecommunities CNE serves (evenings and weekends are required).

·      Maintain confidentiality of family records and information.

·      Other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements

·      Attend and participate in regular CNE activities.

·      Ensure completion of 15 hours of professional development per year.

·      Bilingual employees are expected to assist with translation/interpretation to the best of their abilities.

Required Qualifications

·      Associates or higher in Early Childhood Development or a minimum of 6 Early Childhood Education (ECE) college credits.

·      Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for appropriate age group.

·      General knowledge of current local, state, and national resources, services, and benefits programs, including services and programs specifically for families.

·      2 years’ experience working with at-risk families with children between birth and five years.

·      Strong ability to relate well with children and adults.

·      Intermediate skills with computer applications and the ability to learn other technology/software programs as required.

·      Attentive to detail, organizational skills, and time management.

·      Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.

·      Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions.

·      Must have own reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and current auto insurance.

·      Respect for and acceptance of diverse individuals and communities.

·      Criminal background check, child abuse and neglect screening, and TB and immunization health screen.

Working Conditions

·      Employee will work primarily in families’ homes, as well as in an office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

·      Employee is expected to participate in CNE- and job-specific events as needed, which includes some weekend and evening hours.
