Learning Together

Learning Together provides on-site mental health and developmental services to children with special needs who come from low-income families. The Learning Together program has services in seven Evanston child care programs - Reba Early Learning Center, McGaw YMCA Children's Center, Total Child Center, Evanston Day Nursery, Child Care Center, Robert Crown Creative Play, and District 65's Head Start Program.

Services may include occupational, physical, and speech/language therapies, and if needed, support from a social worker.  Customized services are provided in small groups comprised of 4-5 children and their classroom teacher.  During these sessions, teachers observe and practice techniques to use later in the classroom.  Teachers and therapists confer with parents regularly and family-friendly dinner meetings are held periodically for parents and teachers to learn ways to effectively help their child.
